Context
The Landscapes series approaches interesting cultural and historical facts about Brazil’s biomes. Colored and vivid, the collection is a project by Nurit Bensusan (biologist and self-described dragonfly) that arose from the need for books about Brazil’s biomes for young people.
Challenge
The entire process of the book was imagined and developed here, from the graphic project to the illustrations, allowing for greater freedom to experiment. The illustrations and diagrams were created in parallel in order to build harmony between the two. We designed the book in horizontal format. This way we managed to develop the illustrations as large panoramic landscapes.
We decided to give the book a horizontal layout. This way, we could create illustrations like big panoramic landscapes.
Outcome
Good things come in sequence. The success of the first book, which looks at all the Brazilian biomes, led to three more books: one specifically about the cerrado, another about the sea, and the final one focusing on biodiversity. The collection was selected for the 12th volume of the Brazilian Biennial of Graphic Design, in 2017. The books can be purchased on the site livraria.iieb.org.br.
